What is Le Cercle de l'Art?
Founded in 2020 by artist Margaux Derhy, Le Cercle de l’Art is a French association and artistic ecosystem dedicated to the professional and economic empowerment of emerging French-speaking women artists. It brings together selected artists each season in an intensive annual program that fosters mutual support, artistic emancipation, and community building. Through curated residencies, exhibitions, educational content, and collective exchange, Le Cercle de l’Art creates an environment where artists can grow, connect, and develop their practices with confidence and solidarity.
At its core, Le Cercle de l’Art develops innovative approaches to transforming traditional art-market models, enabling artists to build meaningful relationships with collectors while sustaining their creative work. Participation includes curated group dynamics, guidance from experienced mentors and curators, and a shared vision of advancing artistic careers in a supportive community.
For its fifth season, I am honored to have joined the project’s godmothers and invited in my group Nelly Zagury, Tamaris Borrelly, Caroline Vauvert-Valarcher, and Zineb Mezzour. This edition will culminate in an exhibition curated by Armelle Dakouo, presented at Galerie Hebert from April 9 to April 12.
What is L’Art Month?
L’Art Month is a separate initiative that builds upon the insights and methods developed through Le Cercle de l’Art but functions as its own program focused on artist-led commercial structures. It is a specialized training and methodology platform designed to help artists generate regular, recurring income by developing and nurturing direct relationships with individual collectors.
Rather than being an acquisition event, L’Art Month offers a practical, structured formation through which artists learn to build a sustainable payment-based system. Participants receive tools, strategies, administrative and legal guidance, and frameworks for organizing an annual art month where they can sell work with monthly payment options, diversify revenue streams, and strengthen long-term financial stability.
